Plays Dolby Atmos where the browser can decode it, and renders surround tracks in 3D on headphones everywhere else.

Test signals play through the 3D renderer, so wear headphones. The walk idents each speaker in turn. The orbit circles you at ear level, then again overhead.

What this browser can play

Tested live in the browser you opened this page with. Open it in another browser to compare.

    How the two outputs work

    • DEVICEThe track goes to the browser's own decoder with nothing in between. An Atmos track stays Atmos, and the operating system, receiver, soundbar or spatial headphones render the height. A web page cannot decode Atmos itself.
    • HEADPHONESEach channel of a 5.1, 7.1 or 7.1.4 track is placed on a virtual speaker with a head-related transfer function, then mixed to two ears. The subwoofer channel is low-passed at 120 Hz and fed to both ears at +10 dB.

    Audio ladder to feed it

    • ATMOSDolby Digital Plus with JOC in fragmented MP4. Safari and Edge pick it up. Needs a Dolby licensed encoder.
    • 5.1AAC or Opus 5.1 as the fallback. Every modern browser decodes it, and Headphones 3D renders it.
    • STEREOAAC stereo for everything else.

Put all three in one HLS or DASH manifest. The player picks the best track the browser supports and lists the rest under Audio track.
